Taking the first step can feel overwhelming.

You're not alone.

Reaching out for counseling is often the hardest part of the healing process. Whether this is your first experience with therapy or you're returning after time away, it's completely normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or even skeptical.

My goal is to make therapy feel safe, welcoming, and supportive from the very beginning.

There is no pressure to have everything figured out before you begin. You don't need the "right words." You simply need a willingness to take the first step.Big Ideas, Real Impact.

Your First Session

Think of your first appointment as a conversation—not an interview or a test.

We'll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brought you to counseling, and talking about what you hope will be different in your life.

During our first session, we may discuss:

  • What has been happening in your life

  • What challenges you're facing

  • Your personal strengths

  • Previous counseling experiences

  • Questions or concerns you may have

  • Goals you'd like to work toward

You are always in control of what you choose to share. There is no expectation that you tell your entire life story during your first appointment.

What If I Don't Know Where to Start?

That's okay.

Many people begin counseling saying:

  • "I don't even know why I'm crying."

  • "Everything just feels overwhelming."

  • "I don't know what I need."

  • "I just know something has to change."

You don't need to have the answers.

Part of my role is helping you organize your thoughts, understand your emotions, and discover where healing can begin.

We'll take it one step at a time.

What Therapy Is Like

Every person is different, so every counseling journey is different.

Some sessions may involve:

  • Learning practical coping skills

  • Processing difficult experiences

  • Exploring patterns and relationships

  • Developing healthier ways to respond to stress

  • Celebrating progress and personal growth

  • Setting goals for the future

There may be laughter.

There may be tears.

Sometimes there will be silence while you gather your thoughts.

All of those moments have value.

My Role

My job isn't to tell you how to live your life.

Instead, I will:

  • Listen without judgment.

  • Ask thoughtful questions.

  • Help you understand patterns.

  • Teach practical coping skills.

  • Encourage growth and resilience.

  • Celebrate your progress.

  • Walk alongside you as you navigate life's challenges.

Healing is a collaborative process. We'll work together to build a plan that reflects your goals, values, and pace.

How Long Does Therapy Last?

There isn't one answer that fits everyone.

Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific life challenge.

Others choose longer-term counseling to address deeper patterns, trauma, or ongoing personal growth.

Together, we'll regularly review your progress and adjust your goals as your needs change.

All counseling sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

Many clients appreciate being able to attend therapy from the comfort and privacy of their own home.

Before your first session, you'll receive simple instructions for connecting, and I'll be happy to answer any questions about the technology.
